The Mayor of Surabaya, Dr. (H.C) Ir. Tri Rismaharini, M.T., invites all Rectors and Presidents of higher education institutions from all over Asia to join the 17th Asian University Presidents Forum (AUPF) 2018 in Surabaya. The forum will take place at Petra Christian University campus and Sheraton Surabaya Hotel and Towers for three days, starting from 6-8 November 2018.

As the second largest city in Indonesia, Surabaya is a warm, welcoming, and beautiful city to visit. “On the behalf of the government, the citizens of Surabaya, and the academic community at Petra Christian University, we proudly invite all of you, the honored participants of Asian University Presidents Forum, which will be held on 6-8 November 2018, at our beloved campus, Petra Christian University, Surabaya,” the Mayor said. As a form of support from the city of Surabaya, the mayor extends her warm welcome by inviting all of the participants to a complimentary city tour and welcome dinner.

The city tour guests will have the opportunity to visit the Jalesveva Jayamahe monument, which is located at Surabaya’s Naval Base that is not usually open for public. Guests will also visit the Harmoni Keputih Park which was transformed from the biggest landfill in Surabaya to a beautiful and functional green space. Guests will also have a glimpse at Koridor co-working Space, a space created to support creative cooperation that will benefit Surabaya, and the Command Center for 112, which is a special emergency call center serving Surabaya citizens, similar to the 911 emergency phone number in the United States.

During the city tour, participants will take a ride on the “Suroboyo Bus,” the Mayor’s latest initiative to preserve the environment. In order to take a ride, passengers need to pay the fare with plastic bottles or cups. The bus is both safe and comfortable with wide and clear windows; moreover, it is equipped with 12 CCTV cameras inside the bus, and three outside of it.

At the end of the tour, the Mayor of Surabaya herself, Dr. (H.C) Ir. Tri Rismaharini, M.T., will entertain the guests in a welcome dinner at her official residence.

The theme of the 17th AUPF meeting is “Disruptions at the Crossroads: Innovative Engagement and Future Challenges for Higher Education.” Petra Christian University hopes that this forum will act as a platform for rectors and presidents of higher education institution in Asia to exchange ideas, broaden insights and network with each other while anticipating the implications and challenges of the era of disruption.
